Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

This is a question that has been asked over and over again since the beginning of time?  When  a tragedy strikes you can hear people say, "Why did God do this to me?  I'm a good person." Many of us are  troubled by the unfair distribution of suffering in the world.

The misfortunes of good people are not only a problem to the people who suffer and to their families. They are a problem to everyone who wants to believe in a just and fair and livable world. They inevitably raise questions about the goodness, the kindness, even the existence of God.

If God punishes and rewards then what did I do that my child was hit by a car and died at age 5?  Does God cause a hurricane to hit New Orleans because of the kind of people who live there?

What if God doesn't make things happen nor prevent things from happening?  If God doesn't reward and punish or make or stop things from happening then why pray?  Then what is the purpose of religion?
I will present an in depth exploration of these and more questions and present the answers for your consideration.   Wondering what God 's role is in your life and the world?

Stop by this Sunday at 11:00 AM, at the Community library, 60 Connellsville Street in Dunbar, PA.  We welcome people of all Faiths and Lifestyles.  You can be a member of any church and stop by for a topic that interests you.
